Get to know what brunch is and some of the menu options

Brunch is a term used when you eat between breakfast and lunch. Usually, the brunch concept is mostly done by those who don't have breakfast in the morning and can only eat at 10 or 11 in the afternoon.

The term brunch itself comes from the merger of the words breakfast (breakfast) and lunch (lunch). The brunch menu is usually not too heavy like a main meal, but also not too light like a snack. That's why, brunch is the perfect solution to fill up energy when skipping breakfast but not until lunch time.

Variety of Brunch Menu

Although there are now many cafes and restaurants in Indonesia that serve brunch menus, there's nothing wrong with trying to make your own brunch at home. Some of the menus that you can try are:


Eggs are one of the foods that are suitable as a brunch menu. The reason is, eggs contain a number of useful nutrients to meet your daily energy needs. Some of the nutrients contained in eggs, namely calories, protein, fat, vitamins A, B, D, folate, and choline.

To make one serving of omelette, you will need three eggs. However, don't use all the egg yolks. The goal is to reduce your daily calorie intake. As for the filling, you can use onions, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese when cooking omelets.


In addition to omelets, another food that you can make on the menu at brunch is oatmeal. However, you have to be careful because some oatmeal products contain excessive oil, butter, and sugar. Choose plain oatmeal.

To make oatmeal more delicious and healthy, you can add slices of fresh fruit or honey to it.

Pancakes or waffles

Pancakes or waffles are also great for brunch. Make a serving of pancakes or waffles using whole grains or whole grains to make them more nutrient dense. Avoid using butter, syrup, or whipped cream to reduce the sugar content in pancakes or waffles. Instead, you can use fresh fruit as a topping for pancakes or waffles.

Processed potatoes

Some processed potatoes, such as french fries or hashbrown or chopped potatoes, are also suitable to be enjoyed at brunch. Serve these two processed potatoes with a vegetable salad to provide high nutrition with low calories. Avoid eating potatoes with bread because it can increase your carbohydrate intake.

To make brunch appetizing, choose foods that taste delicious and fresh because they tend to make you feel satisfied. As for the drink, you can choose orange juice or fruit juice without added sugar. Enjoy!
